FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
When is NYARW 2017 taking place?
What types of events take place during NYARW?
Over 75 events and experiences will take place over the course of the NYARW period, ranging from discounted prix fixe menus and in-restaurant exclusive experiences, mega-food festivals, pitch competitions, chef-hosted pop-up experiences, to cooking courses, wine tastings, art walk-throughs, health and wellness expos and much more! Sign up for our newsletter to receive event updates and stay tuned for the distribution of our NYARW Official Guide this September.
Who curates and produces NYARW? Do they produce other African events and festivals?
Taste of Africa USA is the official curator and producer of NYARW. It is a food, culture, and special events start-up company based in NYC that has been active in the NYC community for many years. NYARW is a signature event of Taste of Africa USA, with other signature events being “A Taste of Africa on the Hudson” and “PANLA/Taste of Africa Event Series.” There may be other individuals and organizations in the NYC community who produce African-related events. However, the events mentioned above are the only events and trademarks that Taste of Africa USA is affiliated with.
How can my restaurant participate in NYARW?
Is there a restaurant participation fee?
Yes, each restaurant pays a modest fee for NYARW. The participation fee helps cover marketing and promotional costs of NYARW, e.g. Official Guide printing, extensive advertising, and/or ad placements in major news outlets.
Is NYARW legally responsible for all the events shown in the program?
NYARW curates all NYARW events and participants but is not necessarily responsible for each event’s production. Each NYARW event has an official organizer or host, responsible for the execution of the event. There are some key events that fall under the banner of NYARW exclusive production and others where we act as a collaborator for those of our partners who may be carrying out event production.
Are NYARW events open to the public or invitation only?
Over 90% of NYARW events are free and open to the public. A small portion of events require paid ticketing and/or are by invitation-only. Interested parties should check the NYARW website, the Official Guide, or the event organizer/host to clarify this information.
Where can I obtain a copy of the NYARW 2017 Official Guide/program booklet?
The NYARW 2017 Official Guide will be made available in digital and print format in September. Participating restaurants and partners will distribute physical copies in ~150 locations. The digital version will be available online on the NYARW website. Note: we are unable to mail physical copies of the guide to individuals.
