Join us at Panla Taste of Africa Pop-up dinner for an intimate Gastro Afrique culinary journey. As our various chefs both celebrity and upcoming traverse the African continent and bring you authentic traditional specialties and Afro-fusion delights.
Whether in a brownstone in Brooklyn or a Manhattan rooftop be assured to be taken on a trip that will enhance your senses and wet your taste buds. Come and feel the flavors, spices, the heat, warmth and yes hospitality. Part of the proceeds of each event will go to benefit a local charity or a charity doing work in Africa.
With your ticket, you will enjoy a five-course dinner paired with wines.The night will include giveaways, demonstrations, and great conversation. So be prepared to feed your body and mind and join us for Panla Dinner Series.

Chef Zuhra
Zuhra Abdullahi is a chef specialized in creating French Nigerian fusion cuisines. She is a graduate of The International Culinary. Zuhra’s love for cooking began in her childhood growing up in Nigeria where food and family are the cornerstone of the community.

Chef Pierre Thiam
Chef, restaurateur, and cookbook author Pierre Thiam was raised in Dakar, Senegal. He previously operated two restaurants in Brooklyn, NY, Yolélé and Le Grand Dakar, visionary African bistros that became cultural centers for Africans from the continent and the diaspora.He is the author of Yolele!, the first Senegalese cookbook published in the English language, and the more recently published Senegal, a James Beard Award finalist.

Charmain Sitthapah
Chef Charmain Sithappah grew up in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Her love and passion of food and cooking began at an early age as she grew up in a restaurant environment, surrounded by chefs who specialized in authentic Zulu, Xhosa, Malay, Afrikaans and Indian cuisines. She was recently a guest chef at the Odyssey across Africa at the James beard.

Chef Bryan
Chef Bryan Lindsay has been connected to food since he was a small child. He holds degrees in International Marketing and Hospitality Management which has served him well in his career. He’s studied at Les Viscos, a boutique hotel and restaurant in France where he mastered much of his technique, as well as Junoon, a Michelin starred Indian restaurant in New York.

Chef Cisse
Chef Cisse is the Head Chef and Owner of Ponty Bistro Harlem. He moved to the United States in 1995 from Dakar, Senegal, quickly entering the restaurant business. Since then, he has worked for internationally renowned chefs at some of New York’s most high profile restaurants, serving an array of international cuisines.
